Cabinet Economic Co-ordination Committee to retire 3500 permanent employees of PIA.

Committee also gave in-principle approval of Rs. 12.80 billion for voluntary separation scheme.

The ECC meeting was chaired by Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh.

The meeting also approved to allocate Rs. 53 million for 4 technical supplementary grants and National Information Technology Board for 4 projects of the Ministry of Defense and Interior.

These funds will be used to provide information technology services for a successful youth program in the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting also recommended setting up of a committee comprising representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to work out a timetable for cannabis and mango exports.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication discussed in detail the national level preparation of SIM and Smart Cards at the meeting.

The Chairman ECC directed to set up a committee to review the proposal and submit a report within two weeks so that the proposal could be taken forward. Hamad Azhar will head the committee.

The committee will include representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, the FBR and the Board of Investment. The meeting, on the recommendation of the Petroleum Division, allowed the allocation of one MMCFD gas to a third party from Bashrax IST.
